Seifert and Juhaniak at Casa Serena Open

29.08.2011: Czech golf will see two home players at fourth year´s Casa Serena Open again. Jiøí Seifert and Jan Juhaniak, two participants from previous year, are the best Czech players at 50 years or older and are getting a special invitation from European Senior Tour.

Both are qualified through Czech Senior Tour Order of Merit to the field, playing from 16. to 18. September 2011 for 400.000 Euro prize money.

„We are happy to see domestic players again. Both Jiøí Seifert and Jan Juhaniak showed their playing qualities in previous years,“ said Maureen Chang, founder and director of Casa Serena Golf.

Jiøí Seifert, from Podìbrady, will be playing at Roztì¾ for the third time. Last year he was tied 61st (+9) a during his debut in 2009 he finished at 67th place (+14). This year, however, he could be delighted by his excellent form.

He won last two stops on Czech PGA Senior Masters Golf Tour 2011 at Albatross and in Carlsbad as well. Moreover, he was just two shot away from main field at The Senior Open Championship after qualifying tournament in England last July.

„Regarding my third start at Casa Serena Open, I would like to conquer the atmosphere finally,“ Seifert said. „I would like to show what I´ve done in practice and also would like to continue in good results from this season. I know the course quite well, hoping not to be overwhelmed by the speed of the greens. I also made adjustments to putting technique.“

Jan Juhaniak will be playing at Casa Serena Open for the third time, too. Professional from Beøovice and Motol was the first Czech player at European Senior Tour event in 2008. He finished tied 61st (+9) during his debut, while he was 75th (+18) last year.

„Having a chance to participate at that kind of tournament, this is a success on it´s own. I had a surgery on left shoulder in March and I didn´t know how quickly I could be back,“ Juhaniak said. „Finally it went well, so I am glad to be in the same field with former Major winners.“

And with three Ryder Cup captains as well, it must be said. Mark James, Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam, all of them leaders of European team in prestigious clash with USA, willl be participating at Casa Serena Open this year.

„Hopefully I can measure some of my results at Roztì¾ with them,“ Juhaniak hopes. „Practice has never been strongest part of my game, however I will do my best on driving range to head to Casa Serena Open in confident mood.“

Both Czech players hope to enjoy home welcome at Casa Serena Open 2011. Entry and parking for spectators at Roztì¾ is free again.
